Projects that we support
These are all projects that we feel are important and are happy to support.. but also check out this link to some of the inspirational new projects that we heard about at the Flourish summit!
Alliance for Childhood
The Alliance for Childhood serves as a network that facilitates reflection and action by people with concerns about the care and education of children. It is not a conventional organisation, but an expression of a willingness to work together for the betterment of the experience of childhood. It exists in the shared work and spirit of cooperation whereby all partners can find mutual support. It is a collaborative approach that is created by commitment and by the activity itself.
Early Childhood Action
Early Childhood Action (ECA) is a new alliance of early years individuals and organisations, founded in early 2012 with the aim of campaigning to influence the government’s final revision of England’s statutory Early Years Foundation Stage. Its vision is to create a major alliance of authoritative voices from across the early years sector with the overriding aim being the well-being and flourishing of all young children, from whatever background, in developmentally appropriate environments which are free of pre-ordained learning or developmental goals.
Learn with Grandma
Learn with Grandma is a small, not-for-profit company that promotes intergenerational learning, operates in the European Life-Long-Learning programme and specialises in ‘Grundtvig’ Learning Partnerships. http://www.learnwithgrandma.org
The National Trust - Natural Childhood Project
The National Trust is working alongside Arla, the NHS Sustainable Development Unit and film-makers Green Lions, to organise a 2012 summit to bring together a range of experts to develop a roadmap for reconnecting children and nature. This follows the report that it commissioned on Natural Childhood.
Unique Child Network
SCM Founder Wendy Ellyatt's Unique Child (UQC) Network was founded in 2010 to promote the bringing together of people worldwide who are concerned about the nature of current educational systems and their lack of focus on the wellbeing and innate potential of each child.
Membership is free and it offers access to a wide range of cutting edge reports, articles and research. Join the network
The Ultimate Block Party
The Ultimate Block Party aims to create a multi-pronged social movement that champions the importance of play and playful learning in children’s lives. We seek to ensure that all children are provided with suitable skills for the 21st century global world and to build a public groundswell about the value of play for fostering lifelong learning in the sciences and the arts. Our mission is to affect policy about children and the way we deliver education in our society. http://www.ultimateblockparty.com
