It’s a much talked about issue these days: child safety versus too much risk aversion. In Hong Kong, it’s an issue that won’t go away, with parents and children complaining that their playgrounds have become so safe that they are devoid of fun and excitement. “The problems persist, they contend, despite society widely recognising that a fun, safe yet challenging environment can enhance a child’s development in many ways, such as their interpersonal skills and adaptability.”
