Should children ban their parents from social media?

Children are coming of age who have had their entire lives documented on social media platforms, and are questioning whether it is what they would have wanted for themselves, given a choice. Some are asking parents to remove their posts, or to untag them from photos so that they are less visible to others.

There are professionals who agree that documenting a person’s growth and development in this way may not always be welcomed. “Parents may not realise it, but by posting photos and videos of their children online, they are creating an identity for their children that might not be welcomed, according to psychologist Dr Arthur Cassidy, who specialises in social media.”
