Children as equals… a collaborative approach

“In recent decades there has been a great deal of investment in setting up structures and processes – at global and local level – that guarantee the place of each child in our society, while ensuring their protection and access to services that secure their healthy development.”

However, the reality of living in accordance with children’s rights, and seeing them as competent equals, is a complex societal issue which is explored in this thought-provoking article. 

The article gives examples of programmes where adults and children formed genuine partnerships when working (and playing) together. It also provides insights for the future, including the individual and societal changes that will need to take place for children to truly live and be treated as competent partners.
