Why the very idea of ‘screen time’ is muddled and misguided

There’s a great deal of talk about the amount of time children spend in front of screens, and some of it directly contradictory. The Children’s Commissioner, for instance, has initiated a ‘Digital 5 a day’ campaign, aimed at limiting children’s screen time, while GCHQ has countered it by insisting that children’s should spend more time on screen in order to gain skills to ‘save the country’.

“But the term ‘screen time’ is problematic to begin with.”
