Italy makes 12 vaccinations compulsory for children

In the wake of a large drop in the number of children being vaccinated and a three-fold rise in the number of cases of measles this year compared to last, the Italian government has ruled that all children must be vaccinated against 12 common illnesses before they enter the state school system. Schooling in Italy starts at age 6, and parents who do not have their children vaccinated before then risk being fined.
