Mouldy cheese and minibeasts: tips for teaching science in primary schools

According to new research from the Wellcome Trust, science has become a neglected subject in UK primary schools, where it is taught on average for just one hour and 24 minutes per week. Yet scientific exploration is great for developing flexible thinking and problem-solving abilities, let alone hugely important in contributing to our understanding and knowledge of the world around us.

The Wellcome Trust, through its online Explorify platform, suggests ideas that will enable teachers to spark children’s curiosity and observation skills by incorporating scientific principles into the primary classroom in an informal and fun way.
