Wendy Ellyatt - Founder and Chief Executive For the last thirty years Wendy has dedicated her time to exploring the unique qualities of human learning and development, with a particular emphasis on the impact of the early years and on what creates lives of meaning and purpose. She is the founder of the Save Childhood Movement, National Children’s Day UK and the Flourish Project. She is also a long-term Fellow of the RSA and in 2019 became Co-Chair of the Global Council for the Wellbeing Economy Alliance. Sally Grindley – Project Director, National Children’s Day UK For the last two years Sally has been helping Wendy to further develop National Children's Day UK. She is also an award-winning children’s author of some 30 years’ standing, with over 150 books published, including the award-winning Shhh! and Spilled Water and best-selling Knock Knock Who’s There? She is equally well-known for her picture books, which are often used to demonstrate to adult readers how to engage and interact with their young audiences, and to have fun in the process! Diahann Hughes Hawkins – Project Director, Parenting Resources Diahann has spent many years in project management and marketing positions, including being Founding Director of a trust focused on the relevance of indigenous learning perspectives to sustainable futures. She was instrumental in establishing a new school within her local community and is passionate about better supporting, informing and empowering parents.
Harriet Broadfoot – Project Director, The Children's Voice, Project Manager, National Children's Day UK Harriet studied at Durham University and went onto train and work as a volunteer adviser with the Citizen’s Advice Bureau, a mentor with the County Council for foster care leavers, and worked part time as a medico-legal assistant. Her love of young children, coupled with an avid interest in society, culture and mental health, led her to train as a Montessori directress and from there, to qualify as an EYT with a PGcert in early years professional teaching.
Rosie Dutton – Social Media Officer, National Children's Day UK Rosie has been contributing to the social media activities of Nationbal Children's Day UK for many years now and has loved being part of the team that has developed the day from its small beginnings. She is passionate about the Early Years and allowing children the right to a playful, nurturing and happy childhood. As a Forest School Leader, Relax Kids Coach and Developmental Movement Play specialist she runs sessions for children and their families in and around her local community.
